The Community Writing Project Awards
Each year, in the spring, PWR sponsors its annual Community
Writing Project Awards.
Instructors who have taught CWP-designated sections of PWR 1
and/or PWR 2 courses within the previous three quarters (spring
and fall of the previous year and winter of the current year)
are invited to submit the very best of their students’ community-based
projects for judging. Nominations may include CWP projects in
all forms (written, multimedia, and/or spoken) that students
produce either individually or in collaborative groups. Within
each of two categories, one for PWR 1 and one for PWR 2, three
prizes may be awarded: Winner, First Runner-Up, and Second Runner-Up.
Student winners receive Community Writing Project Awards certificates
and $100 each for winning projects, $75 each for first runners-up,
and $50 each for second runners-up. Student winners and nominees,
their instructors, their community agency mentors, along with
friends of students, PWR, and the Community Writing Project are
invited in the awards ceremony at the end of the academic year.
