National Conferences

Consistent participation in national and international conferences has put our program on the intellectual and pedagogical map of professional organizations in ways that can also help us to build community. In the past five years, more and more PWR instructors have submitted proposals to report on their scholarship and teaching at key conferences, including the Conference on College Composition and Communication, the Modern Language Association, the Rhetoric Society of America, the International Writing Centers Association, and Computers and Writing. In March 2004, the Stanford Writing Center hosted the Northern California Writing Centers Association conference, and in June 2005, under the leadership of Corinne Arraez, PWR hosted the Computers and Writing Conference.

To support participation in these conferences, PWR has secured a travel expense line for our budget. Instructors planning to present at a conference this year need to complete the appropriate travel form and give it to Vani Kane, PWR’s program manager.
