Grade Disputes and Other Complaints

Students have the right to question the grades we give or to make other complaints about their courses. Reference to the PWR Evaluation Criteria in your syllabus, your regular review of and conscientious comment on student work, and your professional attitude towards your students will go a long way towards reducing confusion and unhappiness about grades or other course matters. You should also include a statement on your syllabus that tells students what to do in order to register a dispute or complaint. The first step is to discuss the issue with the instructor. If that conversation does not resolve the issue, the next step is to refer the student to the Associate Director of PWR.
