PWR Enrollment Dates and Deadlines

Section Preferences Deadlines for Academic Year 2024-2025

For your reference, Axess open enrollment dates are below. (Axess opening for enrollment is completely independent of preference windows and section assignments.)

Section Preferences and Assignment

• To be assigned to a PWR section, you will be invited to rank your top 7 section preferences prior to enrollment opening for your assigned quarter. (Keep in mind your overall schedule when considering your preferences.)
• Submit your section preferences by the preference deadline.
• If you submitted preferences on time but do not receive an assignment by the date indicated above, contact pwrcourses@stanford.edu. 
• If you miss the initial preference deadline, contact pwrcourses@stanford.edu and we will try to place you in an open section. There is no guarantee a student will be placed in a section if they miss the preferences deadline. Also, students can't be assigned to a section once it has met twice, or after week one, whichever is soonest (so for a MW 9:30 section, we will no longer assign students to that section after Wednesday 9:30AM week one, even if there was no Monday class).
• For PWR 2 students--If you are accepted into a WR2 IntroSem, you will forego placement into a PWR 2. If acceptance into a WR2 is prior to assignment, your preferences will be deleted. If acceptance is after assignment, you will be dropped from your assigned PWR 2. Therefore, you should only apply to a WR2 IntroSem if you plan on taking the course.

• If you need to change your section after your initial assignment, please contact pwrcourses@stanford.edu. Quarter changes are not allowed after section assignment.

  
  
  Please note: PWR assignment happens prior to Axess opening for enrollment. 
  Dates rolling enrollment begins for non-PWR courses through regular SimpleEnroll:
  Fall (non-Frosh): September 5, 2024 Frosh enroll during NSO (New Student Orientation)
  Winter: December 5, 2024 
  Spring: March 6, 2025 

Quarter Change Petitions 

You can use the online petition button found here to request a change in your assigned PWR quarter, however once you have been assigned to a specific PWR section, you cannot change your quarter assignment. Frosh will not be able to use the petition process to change their quarter assignment until after Autumn quarter.*

The link will not work if the online petition window is closed. Please contact pwrcourses@stanford.edu to see if a change of quarters is possible.

Note: requests to change quarters to the following year are only granted for exceptional circumstances. 

* Online quarter change petition is not open for frosh until after Autumn quarter. They must consult with their academic advisor about their study list, have compelling academic reasons for changing their PWR quarter, and then email pwrcourses@stanford.edu.
